Cerebras Systems Unveils “World’s Largest Computer Chip”

    • Cerebrous Systems , an artificial intelligence (AI) company, has unveiled the world’s largest single silicon-based processor called the Cerebras Wafer Scale Engine ( WSE ) .
    • The chip has 1.2 trillion transistors, basic on-off electronic switches that are the building blocks of silicon chips.
    • The rectangular-shaped chip measures 21.5 sq cm (8.5 sq in), is built with 400,000 AI (artificial intelligence) cores and 18 gigabytes of on-chip memory.

IIT-Delhi Wins Start-Up Award

IIT Hyderabad Develops Eco-Friendly Solar Cells Through ‘Kumkum Die’

    • Scientists at IIT Hyderabad have  developed a low-cost, environmentally friendly solar cell using  off-the-shelf-dye used to make kumkum or vermilion .
    • According to research published in the journal Solar Energy, the  dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC)  is based on a new fuccin (NF) dye with an aqueous electrolyte and a platinum-free counter electrode .

China Launches First Private Rocket Capable Of Carrying Satellites

    • Beijing- based startup “Interstellar Glory Space Technology ” also known as iSpace successfully launched China’s first commercial rocket .
    • The 20-meter (66-foot) rocket designed by ISPACE called Hyperbola-1 reached an altitude of 300 kilometers (186 mi) . The rocket is capable of carrying satellites in orbit.

    • The Indian Space Research Organization launched Chandrayaan 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota . 
    • It was launched by GSLV MkIII-M1 vehicle at 14:43 hours IST. Lander-Vikramwill land near the South Pole of the Moon on September 7, 2019 .
    • Chandrayaan 2 is India’s second moon mission .

NASA’s First Astrobi Robot “Bumble” Embarks On A Journey Into Space

    • A robot named Bumble  of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has become the first astrobi robot to fly under its own power .
    • Astrobi is a free-flying robot system that will help researchers test new technologies in zero gravity and routinely work with astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

NASA Unveils Table For ‘Artemis’ 2024 Moon Mission

    • NASA ‘s “Artemis” has unveiled the calendar for the program, it is the first time in half a century will be the return to the moon by astronauts, in 2024 to eight scheduled launch and lunar orbit is a mini-station. The original lunar mission was named for Apollo – in Greek mythology Artemis was her twin sister, and the goddess of hunting, forest and moon.
    • Administrator Jim Bridenstein has confirmed that Artemis 1 will be a crewless mission around the moon planned for 2020. This will be followed by Artemis 2, which will circumnavigate the Earth’s satellite with a crew around 2022; Finally Artemis 3 will take astronauts to lunar land in 2024, including the first female member.

ISRO Successfully Launched Earth Observation Satellite ‘RISAT-2B’

    • Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully launched the AT RISAT-2B ‘ satellite from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Center, SHAR .
    • The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C46) flew from the first launch pad and the RISAT-2B was sent into a 556 km orbit approximately 15 minutes and 25 seconds after the  flight 
    • The RISAT-2B is a radar imaging earth observation satellite,  weighing about 615 kg . The satellite aims to provide services in the fields of agriculture, forestry and disaster management.
    • Suitable for all types of weather, radar imaging satellites have the ability to observe and take pictures of the Earth from around 500 kilometers.

Astronomers Take First Image Of A Black Hole

    • Astronomers have taken the first image of a black hole, located in a distant galaxy known as ‘ Messier 87′ (M87) .

Tesla Built Its ‘Largest Energy Storage System’ In Asia

    • Tesla has developed its ‘largest power storage system’ in Asia at the Osaka train station in Japan to reduce energy demand and provide emergency backup power for trains in Japan . It was launched in partnership with Kintsu, a railway operator in Osaka, Japan.

ISRO Launches PSLV C-45 With EMISAT And 28 Nano Satellites

    • The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched an advanced intelligence satellite, EMISAT, along with 28 other subscriber satellites , by the upgraded PSLV-C45 rocket in its 47th Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) mission .
    • The PSLV C45 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in ISRO’s Sriharikota . This is the first time ISRO is launching satellites in three different orbits. In addition, the PSLV-C45 launch vehicle is also the first PSLV rocket to use four strap-on motors .

ISRO Ready To Launch 29 Satellites Including EMISAT

    • The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch 29 satellites including the primary payload EMISAT on 1 April .
    • The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C45 flew with satellites at 9:30 am from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota .
    • EMISAT has been developed by India for monitoring radar networks. The EMISAT, weighing 436 kg , is intended to measure electromagnetic spectrum.
    • It will be installed in a height orbit of about 753 km. Customer payloads are from Lithuania, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. They will be transported to space at a height of about 505 km.

NASA Astronauts To Hold All-Female Spacewalk For The First Time

Israel Will Launch Its First Moon Mission

Israel is about to begin its first lunar mission , sending an unmanned spacecraft to collect data to be shared with NASA. According to a report, a 585 kg Berset (Genesis)  spacecraft will be sent into space by a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida . Mission control will be in Yehud near Tel Aviv .

ISRO Launches GSAT 31 From French Guiana

  • India’s 40th communication satellite GSAT-31 has been successfully launched from French Guiana.
  • The Ariane-5 rocket was abandoned from the Kauru launch base and placed in the intended geosynchronous transfer orbit in 42 minutes.
  • It was immediately taken under control by scientists of the Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO from its Hassan facility in Karnataka. GSAT-31 will provide transponder capability for DTH television and connectivity for services such as ATM, stock-exchange, digital satellite news gating DSNG and e-governance applications.

To summarize about GSAT-31:

1.Upgrade GSAT-31 has footprint on both mainland India and its island areas.

2. In place of the aging of the INSAT-4CR satellite, it offers uninterrupted services with an operational life of 15 years.
3. GSAT-31 is India’s 40th communication satellite.

DRDO Successfully Tests Long Range Surface To Air Missile Off Odisha Coast

    • The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully tested the Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LR-SAM) from the naval warship INS Chennai . The test was conducted off the coast of Odisha. The LR-SAM hit a low-flying air target during the test.

Facebook To Establish Institute For AI Ethics With Initial Investment Of $ 7.5 Million

India’s First Manned Mission To Space By December 2021: ISRO

    • ISRO Chairman Dr. K Sivan has announced that the organization is set to meet the target of launching the Gaganyaan manned mission into outer space by December 2021.
